Things that are different about Kentucky...

I'm thinking this is going to be an ongoing thing, noticing how little things are different here from home. Where should I begin... I guess the first thing that's different is the speed limit. 70 on the highway isn't too much of a stretch, I mean I do that on 91 at home. But what really gets me is the winding country roads with crazy ditches on both sides, where the speed limit is 55! Now that takes some getting used too!
Then there is the corner store, which is not really on the corner. I'm so used to having a store on every corner, that it takes some getting used to, to remember that its at least a 20 minute drive to get anywhere!
And of course we can't forget the neighbors, the cows in the field next door.
Now don't think I'm complaining, I love all the little differences, just thought it would be fun to share.

We made it!

Well hello Kentucky! We have finally arrived! We got in at about 10:00 last night, and it would have been earlier if we hadn't hit traffic in Ohio. But its all good, we are finally here and breathing in the country air is like a sigh of relief. I woke up to the sun shining through the window at about 8:00 this morning and it was official, vacation had begun. We spent the morning and some of the afternoon straightening out our room, it looks great. I don't think we are going to have any big adventures today, just relaxing and trying to get readjusted to the slower pace down here. Hope everyone at home is staying cool in the crazy heat. I will check back in soon!

Jeep is packed.

Packed and ready to go!

The big box has all our clothes in it.

Count down

About 14 Hours till we leave.
Playlist done
All items in garage waiting to be packed into the jeep.
Once the jeep is packed i will post a pic.

Im getting antsy!

So here I sit at the mechanic, after stopping in to get a quick check and make sure everything is OK for the trip. I have finally officially finished everything I needed to finish for work and for the first time I feel like summer has really begun! Lena is busy busy at home, making sure all of our last minute stuff is done and everything is packed! When I get home, we will load up the jeep so that we are ready to roll at 5am tomorrow. As excited as I am, I'm absolutely at the nervous stage. I love our road trips, but I always get a little anxious before we head out. If I haven't been able to see you to say goodbye, I'm so sorry, but it came way quicker than I expected. But don't worry, with all the picks and posts, it won't even feel like we are gone! Keep checking in and of course we r available by phones anytime!

What a Day!

The parade was a huge success! Over 80 people marched with us. It's funny that while marching, I already began thinking of ways to make next year even better.

Well, now the countdown continues, two more days until we hit the road for Kentucky!Boy do we have lots to do in the next couple of days, like packing, getting a tune up for the jeep, buying meats for Lena's dad, and attempting to say one last good bye to everyone before we go. But of course before any of that can be done, I need to go to work today and finish up everything I didn't have time to do last week. Yeah, that's me, procrastinator extraordinaire!

Oh, and on a side note, muffins from Costco are enormous and entirely too much for one person to eat for breakfast!

Have a great day!

I love a Parade!

Oh my goodness, 5 o'clock is way too early to wake up, especially when this is supposed to be my summer vacation! Oh well, off to march in the Memorial Day Parade in Ludlow. After all of our planning, here's to hoping it goes off without a hitch (ha! when does that ever happen?)

A little yellow bus

Is that the sun I see?

Is it just me, or has it been raining for far too long? Its ok, all is well in the world, because today the sun is shining! Its funny how quite the streets are on a Sunday morning. Off to decorate a bus for a parade, will post pics later...

An iris

I love that even on a rainy day, there is still beauty in moms garden.

Rainy Day

Well happy summer vacation to me, rainy and 50 degrees... It's ok though, because our adventures will really start on Thursday when we hit the road for Kentucky! Just a few more things to do before that, including decorating a bus and marching in a parade! I hope we can figure out how to keep this updated from our phones, because where we are going, there won't be any wi-fi!! Hope everyone enjoys this lovely rainy Saturday, talk to you soon!
